bye bye brunei.
Konbanwa.
It has been quite a while since I last posted. You know, that sentence has become quite a cliche in this blog of mine. Anyhow, selamat menunaikan ibadah puasa kepada semua umat Islam di sini dan sana. And soon, selamat hari raya aidilfitri maaf zahir dan batin. :)
There are actually quite a bit to update, especially about my scholarship. Syukur Alhamdulillah, my scholarship to pursue my studies to the UK is confirmed. 90% of my preparation is done and that includes my VISA application, medical check, signing agreement, etc. I've also booked a flight to fly off on the 23rd of September 2011. InsyaAllah, kalau nada halangan.
I got the official call from the MOE when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (awesome movie btw) was just released here, whilst watching the movie. I didn't really get a direct call from them but for some reason, they called Mama up first and then of course, she called me. Gjan did tell me earlier that there is a high chance we will receive a call from the MOE on that day. So both of us were ready with our phones, in the cinema.
I would like to lay out how the conversation went, but, I'm too lazy. :D
Firstly we gathered the following week to receive our official letter, and schedule of our briefing which went on for the whole week. Simply to say, it was an exhausting week. We did our medical check up the following week and other procedures that needed to be done. Alhamdulillah, as I've said earlier, most of it are done, just waiting for my flight to be confirmed.
Okay, let me summarise what I've done because even I'm confused about it so this might as well become my checklist as well. Things I've done: medical check up, signing agreement, visa application, flight booking, got a place to live, done most of the shopping, printed out most of the needed documents, I should make a copy of these soon, I guess that's it. All that is left are to buy a few more stuff such as stationery, sanitary products, shawls, etc., wait for a bit more documents from the university and of course the confirmation about my flight, print and copy those, ask about the bank account, pack and lastly, fly off.
To think about me leaving Brunei for UK soon, I feel excited, sad, nervous, all at the same time. This will be the first time for me to live off independently, without a maid in the house, which means I have to do all the laundry and cooking and stuff. Living off without my family is not really much of a big deal since I'm used to them flying overseas and living off without me. But I have to admit, there is a chance that I'll get homesick.
But the most frustrating and saddening part of me going away is the fact that Babah won't be able to send me off with the rest of my family. The last time I'll see him is probably during raya, that is, if I haven't flown off already. *sigh* InsyaAllah, kalau ada rezeki, himself and the rest of the family will come in December for winter or maybe I can go home next year. :')
"As for these babies, I am definitely going to bring em along to UK.
Which basically means I'm going to bring their DVDs along with me."
Until then...
Oyasuminasai.
